International Workshop “Self and Infinity” was held on March 20, 2023

We held the workshop “Self and Infinity” on March 20, 2023.

Ryota Akiyoshi from Japan, Mark van Atten and Hey Yong Kim from the Husserl Collection, and Andrew Arana from the Poincaré Collection (titles omitted) from France, held a workshop on “Self and Infinity” at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris. Speakers were as follows: Yasuo Deguchi (Kyoto University, online), Ryota Akiyoshi & Andrew Arana from Japan, Rein Raud, Hey Yong Kim, and Shigeru Taguchi (Hokkaido University) from Estonia, and Francesco Maurelli from Germany (titles omitted).

Although their areas of expertise ranged from philosophy and basic mathematical theory to phenomenology, Buddhist philosophy, and robotics, they were able to engage in a lively discussion on how the view of the self and the concept of the infinite are expressed through the self in these various domains. In some cases, such as Akiyoshi and Arana’s, the collaboration has been further developed, and in many others, the workshop provided an opportunity for future collaboration.
